Diaper Cake for my friend Ashely, who is expecting a sweet baby boy. Her and her husband are big sports fans, so what better way to celebrate a boy, then with a sport themed diaper cake. I loved making this cake. I think it's one of my best ones yet, but then, I think that with every cake.

I made these totally fun diaper cakes for my awesome boss. He is expecting twin boys next month, and my coworkers and I really wanted to do something to celebrate. I thought, why not make twin diaper cakes. I just figured it would be fun, and a creative challenge. It definitely was a challenge, but I had a great time making them.

I love the bright, bold colors. One, the colors matched the sweet little onsies and washcloths, picked out by my coworkers, Carla and Trish. Two, these cakes are for a man, so going all sweet and pastel would have been sweetness overload.

I could not have done this amazing of a job alone, though. I got donations from many of my amazing coworkers. They all brought diapers and fun baby things to add to the cakes. I just put it all together.

Ingredients:

3 packs size one diapers

1 pack size two diapers

1 pack newborn diapers

My dear friend Suzanne, asked me to make her an animal themed diaper cake. Her sister is expecting her first baby and Suzanne couldn't be more excited.

I haven't been doing much creating lately, so I jumped at the challenge. She brought over all these adorable baby things, and I knew I had my work cut out for me. I LOVE all the sweet animals. The monkeys are my favorite, so I definitely wanted to showcase them.

I made this canvas wall hanging for my boy Jacob. I started by painting the canvas. I'm not much of an artist, so I just kinda went with the flow of the paint. His name is from Uppercase Living. It is a vinyl rub-on. Added some metal accents, micro beads and glitter. Hope he likes it. May give it to him today.. Or I may wait until his birthday next month.

My dear friend, Diane, lost her battle with cancer this year. She was such a sweet woman and she fought a good fight. She is dearly missed by her family and friends. Diane loved paper crafts. Well, actually, I think she really loved acquiring paper crafting items (I think she had one of everything) and organizing it all. She was constantly looking for new ways to organize all her great crafty finds. She had all her goodies cataloged and organized. Not an easy thing to do, as any scrapbooker will tell you.

This desk organizer was hers. It was plain white when I got it. I knew I wanted to alter it in some way. I thought hard over what papers to pick and what colors to go with. Finally, I decided to go with this lovely paper pack from Basic Grey. Diane's favorite color was purple. I knew I wanted to do something to remember her by... and the purple floral paper pack was perfect. (say that 3x fast. hehehe) I love how it turned out, and I'm sure Diane would approve.

I made this for a dear friend of mine, Curtis. Well, actually, my amazingly creative friend, Jenn helped me..actually, she did most of it. I was totally lost in the digital scrapping world. She is awesome and I think she has me interested in digital scrapping. Shhh...don't tell my husband. LOL

Anyway, we made the digital layout, then mod podged it onto a regular 12in tile. We made the page 11x11. Add an iron easel, and you have a beautiful work of art.

I had no idea what was going to happen when I started this cupcake album. No idea...I just started adding paper and ribbon. I tried to make every cupcake have it's own personality. This was just a simple chipboard album. I covered both sides of each page. I love the way it turned out. It was so much fun just going at a project. Not having to worry about pictures or wording, just fun!

I made this sweet baby confection for a family friend. They are doing a jungle theme for the nursery, so I wanted to do something fun with animals. I fell in love with the monkey beanie and the lion toy, so I used them as my starting point. I was so happy to find onsies and blankets to match.

A house that Jen built

I started on this sweet little house last month. (Thanks Jenn, and Rachele!) As usual, it got pushed aside because I had no idea what to do with it. Sometimes I start a project not really knowing what the end result will be. Sometimes I have a clear cut idea. This time, I just started building and waited to see what would happen. I set it aside, and came back to it many times in the last month. But could never come up with the right ideas..Well, Yesterday, I started having some ideas. and I finished it today. I'm pretty happy with the end result. What do you think?

It is super cute anyway!! You see, I made this cake for a friend..well, actually, we worked on it together. My buddy, Guillermo, is throwing a baby shower for his cousin and wanted a sweet center piece. He is very creative, so (for 2 weeks) we have been bouncing ideas off of each other. We had a really cute idea, but then lost our cake stand to a real cake at the last minute. So, on to plan B. This sweet diaper treat is the result. It's a bit different then my last cakes, but so cute, I love the stuffed Eyore. We had a blast working on this cake. I look forward to other projects with my buddy, Memo.

Today, I needed to clean out my spice pantry. It was time...really. There were spices and herbs in there from God knows when. They had to go. As I was dumping all of these into the trash, I had an idea. Why not let the kids use the old herbs as "glitter"? So, I got out some coloring pages, elmers school glue, and let them go to town with the glue and herbs. It was a lot of fun!! The creative options are endless. Kinda messy though, but sometimes I don't mind the mess. Plus, it was much easier to clean up then glitter.

I made this fun diaper cake a few years ago. It was for my friend, and fellow scrapper, Holly. She was expecting her 2nd baby girl. This being her 2nd daughter, I thought, why stay with the traditional pastels? Why not liven it up a bit? So, I did. Hot pink and bright yellow go together so well. I used silk flowers to accent the cake..I went a little to big with the flowers, but I like the over all look. She loved it too. It was one of her favorite gifts that day.

I'm lazy and cheap, so instead of buying one of those cute card holders to display all the wonderful Christmas cards we receive, I just started putting them on our tree. I have been doing this since we have had this tree, about 6 years.

Now, this wouldn't work on every tree, (as some trees are just way to beautiful to put a hodge podge of cards) but it works for us. I like my tree all hodge podgy. LOL One day, I'll have a house large enough to have my "family" tree (this one) and a beautiful tree that I can them up and change up every year. One day.....

Sweet Tree Treat

I loved making cupcakes (from paper and ribbon) so much, that I had to try making it into an ornament for my tree. The ornament is slightly smaller then the original, so it uses a smaller foam ball. It was also easier to make since I didn't have to worry about it being top heavy. This is my first run at this sweet treat, and I think it still needs a little something...maybe a glitter cherry..hmmmm I'm still perfecting it, but I thought I would share anyway. Plus, I thought this one was pretty cute.

For the last (and largest) tree, I used different colors in all the same tone. I also used small mirrors and Christmas brads instead of sequins.

Another Ribbon Tree

Same idea, different color. This one was a little harder because I didn't have as wide of ribbon as I did with the blue tree. The wider ribbon really makes a difference. Don't try to make this with ribbon less then an inch and a half wide. I used different widths, for variation, but the wider ribbons were much easier to work with.

This started off as a plain paper mache cone. I bought it last year, but didn't get around to decorating it until now. I'm so glad I waited, because I love how it came out! I used satin ribbon (the wider the ribbon works best), glue gun and sequins and rhinestones.

Simple glitter and glue pine cones. I made these with my kids. They had a blast, and they look super cute on our Christmas tree. However, next time I decide to let my children have free rein with glitter, I will make sure they are outside. I don't think I will ever see the end of all the glitter. We all had fun though.

Attack of the Super Sweet Snow Babies!

I whipped up these little guys for a craft sale my friends are doing this weekend.

Last year we made these and we painted clear glass balls. It was a pain in the neck!! They took FOREVER to dry. When I say forever, I mean forever.. Painted them in September and they were still wet in December. Plus, they streaked and smeared. Not worth painting. So, this year I went with frosted glass balls. Much easier and oh so cute! Got the idea from my sweet friend Rachele...not sure where she got the idea.

*This counts as day 1 of my (hopefully) 12 days of Christmas.

I have been working my butt off, making Christmas items. I am planning on doing 25 days of Christmas, with a new item every day. Now, I don't know if i can get that many projects done during one of the craziest times of the year...but I am going to try. If I don't have that 25 to show, I know I will at least have 12. Diapers for a Cowboy

I just finished this rustic diaper cake for a friend who is about to be a grandmother for the first time. She is throwing her daughter a cowboy themed baby shower. I would have never thought to put cowboys and baby showers together, but it sure did get my creative juices flowing. She is using bandannas as part of the decorations for the shower. That's when the light bulb went on...I could use the bandannas instead of ribbon! I loved the idea of making a diaper cake using torn bandannas! This is also one of the simplest diaper cakes I have made, without a lot of extra baby items. All the extra stuff just didn't work with the theme. This is one of those cases where, less really is more.

I whipped this little gem up for my friend Debbie. She hosted a Halloween party, and she always goes out of her way when she throws a party. I wanted to do something to thank her for all her hard work. I had been thinking all week of something to make for her, but it wasn't until the day of the party (3 hours before it started) that I came up with this idea. I love how it turned out. Apparently, I do some of my best work under pressure. She loved it, and the party was a blast. Thanks Deb!

Going Green...

Took an old pair of jeans, and................................................................................

Made them into an awesome apron!!

It was super easy, too! This is from one pair of size 6 jeans. The only thing missing is the belt to put around the waist. It will also look better after I wash it, so the edges are all frayed.

I didn't have an extra pair of jeans, so I went searching at Goodwill. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of women's jeans they offered. These are Nautica brand with absolutly nothing wrong with them. They looked almost new. I knew I was going to hack them up, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I think this pair cost $4.

In all, this project only took a couple hours. It was great fun to destroy something and then rebuild the same thing into something new.

Apple Strudel Muffins

I have been a baking fiend for almost a week, making these delicious morsels, plus banana bread and oatmeal peanut butter cookies.

Instead of putting my creative juices to good use, (like making Jessica's Halloween costume or finishing my cool Halloween house) I have been in the kitchen...baking. Now, this may not seem odd to most people, but for me, it's crazy and stupid. The crazy part is, I'm not that into baking.. well at least, I wasn't. Plus, the holiday season is right around the corner and I know I will be baking myself into a floury, sugary mess. More importantly (and here is the stupid part), I have been on a very strict diet that does not include any of these sweet treats. Nor can I have them for at least 3 more weeks. So tell me, why would I torture myself this way? I manage to lose 20lbs and this is how I celebrate? Okay, so I'm a little sick in the head.

This all started because I was browsing through one of my cookbooks. There were so many yummy recipes, I just couldn't stop...until I ran out of eggs. But that is why I made the Shortbread cookies.. they don't call for eggs. :)

My First Bag!

Here is my first real attempt at sewing. I actually completed a sewing project. It's really a miracle. I have started several projects in the past, only to get bored and push them aside. I am so glad my mom pushed me to finish this bag. I love it! I love the fabric and the style. Of course, a big thank you goes out to Toni, who inspired me to make a bag in the first place. :) Her bags are definitely much better then mine, but I still had to give it a try.

Every once in a while I take a picture that is so good, it surprises me. This is one of them. I took this from the top of the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas. I can't believe how good it came out. I wasn't doing anything special..Just turned off the flash and shot. I didn't have to edit it at all. No cropping, or adjusting. I wish the rest of my pictures turned out this good.

I loved it so much, I had to try it myself. I couldn't get the paper to work the way she did, but I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I can't wait to make another one!

Here is the perfect card cage for a fall wedding. I have always wanted to try my hand at wedding accessories, but never had a reason to....until now. The daughter, of a dear friend, is getting married next month. I was very inspired when I heard her theme was pumpkins. So, as usual, I offered to make something. I love card boxes and cages, so that was an easy thing for me to pick. I did get a little help with the pumpkin placement (that part had me very puzzled) from a former floral artist, and dear friend, Terre. She was awesome in helping me figure it out. I love the way this turned out! It was exactly what I had in my brain. I am so happy with it. Can you believe this started out as one of those boring white card cages?

Diapers for a Diva!

Here is a diaper cake I made for a friend at work. She is throwing her niece a baby shower and wanted to get her something special. She also wanted it to be be very grand. I think we achieved special and very grand. I love making diaper cakes and this one was no exception. It is the largest one I have ever made, though. So, it presented it's own set of challenges, but I think it came out great, and I learned a few new tricks. One of the things I learned was how to make a flower using baby mittens and a nose bulb. Unfortunately, you can't see it in this picture. Next time I will make sure to get a shot of it.

Ingredients: 84 size 2 diapers

7 onsies

4 bibs

2 pairs of mittens

2 binkies

1 nose bulb

1 baby manicure set

1 very plush baby blanket

10 yards of ribbon

A Diaper Cake for Jen

My dear friend, Jennifer, is expecting her first baby, and I am over the moon for her. She has been such a wonderful friend to me through the years and I love her more then she knows. Yesterday was her baby shower and I just had to make her a fun diaper cake. I had a great time at the shower, and I know she loved her gift.

Contains 51 diapers, 3 beanies, 3 onsies, 1blanket, and 1 cuddly blanket for baby.

Toni, a dear friend of mine, has started making these super cute bags. Isn't it nice? I knew she was a talented paper crafter, but I was pleasantly surprised to see she could sew just as well. She brought a few of these little treasures over to get some feedback during the pajama party. Everyone loved them. She also donated one for a door prize. At the end of the evening, she presented me, with this one. I was so excited! I love it, and have gotten nothing but compliments on it. Thank you Toni!!

The first two towers I bought. I had to go buy a third one to fill the empty space. These Sterilite drawers were $16 each at Wal-Mart. They fit perfectly!

More Snapware, which I filled with buttons, glitter, fibers, and flowers. I used the larger ones to store my paint, foam stamps, and Spellbinder Wizard and all my dies.

Top two shelves. I put all of my Snapware on the top. Easy to see and get to what I need. Plus, I have an extra round Snapware..to grow into. LOL

So, after working on this for over two weeks, and almost $100.00 worth of plastic organizers, and recycle bin full of trash.... It's done!!....well.... almost... I still need to sort my paper and label everything. But, for the most part, it's done! I have been wanting to do this for 3 years, I just haven't been able to find a storage solution that would work for me.

I'm so happy to have this all done. Hopefully, I can keep it this nice.

We had an amazing Fourth of July. I was so blessed to have family and friends in town to celebrate with. Some that I haven't seen in years! We had a bbq and swimming at my parents house. Then it was off to see fireworks, and as usual, they were awesome! These are just a few of my favorite photos from the fourth.

Organization Overload

As you already know, I'm a scrapbooker. That also means I'm part hoarder.. so, I have a ton of scrap and craft supplies that need organizing....but, I'm not that big into organizing. This causes a problem. Well, that is about to change. Apparently, all I needed was the right containers! I found Snapware. I bought one to try it out...when I saw how much I could fit in this wonderful container (and how easily I could still get to it) I was hooked!! So, what did I do? I went to Joann's with my 10% off and stocked up! All organizational items were half price, add my 10% and I was set. I loaded up...now all I have to do is clean out the mess that is my scrap cabinet.

My First tutorial!

This is all of my ribbon before I put it in my bag. I took them all off spools before adding to the bag.

First, find yourself a nice vinyl bag, then punch lots of holes in it. I found it was best to fold it over and use my crop-o-dial.

When you have made all your holes...(make as many as you can, you don't want to have to take all your ribbon out at a later date, just because you need to add more holes.)

Stick your ribbon in and run it through the holes. It is best to start at the bottom of the bag and work your way up. This way, you aren't fighting the ribbon you already added.

You will be amazed at the amount of ribbon you can fit into your bag. The bag is great storage for your ribbon, plus, it makes it very easy to take all your ribbon to a crop. When you need ribbon, you just pull it through the hole and cut off desired amount.

Many of you have seen my ribbon bag and have asked about it, so I figured it would be the perfect project for my first tutorial. Worked out perfect for me because I needed to fix mine anyway. (yes, i was the one who didn't make enough holes the first time) Let me know what you think.

Gifts for Jacob's teachers

Here are the gifts I made for Jacob's preschool teachers. Jacob and Eden helped make the flowers for the vase. Ms. Leanne received the flowers and the pink post-its, Ms. Cheryl, Ms. Jennifer, and Ms. Seye each received a post-it. Jacob was so excited to give them their gifts. He really enjoyed having them as teachers all year long. I hope he always has such loving and sweet teachers.

We had a great time at Jacob's preschool graduation. I am so proud of my little guy. The little girl in the pink dress, is Eden, Jacob's girlfriend. She wants to have 125 kids when she grows up. Jacob wants to live with his mom and dad for the rest of his life. Sorry, kids...can't live with me and have 125 kids. LOL

Today is Jacob's last day of preschool. Wow...this school year went be so fast. I honestly thought it would drag on. It didn't. Tomorrow night is his graduation. I'm looking forward to it as much as he is. I made him a little band-aid tin to celebrate. I know he will love it. I am so proud of my little guy. He has done so well this year. He can't wait for kindergarten to start. He keeps asking me, "Is it August yet?" LOL I'm so glad he has an interest in learning. I only pray that it stays with him the rest of his life.

Here is a flower and vase I whipped as a hostess gift for my friend Emily. My dear friend, Holly, taught me how to make the flowers. They are so simple. I love making them. The vase is a recycled Prima bottle. I used the Tickled Pink paper pack from CTMH and glitter mist for added shine.

We took Jessica to get her ears pierced yesterday. It is what she wanted for her birthday. She did pretty good. Only cried a little. She even sat in the chair all by herself. I was really surprised about that. The lady at Clair's was a little disinterested, but she did a good job anyway. I just wish she would have, at least, talked to Jess. I was able to get some good pictures.. I even got a few of her crying.

My dearest daughter turns 3 today! Where does the time go? She has grown and changed so much in the last 3 years, but it sure doesn't feel like that long to me. Ahhhh.. motherhood... Anyways, Happy Birthday to my Jessie Girl!! We didn't do much for her today, she had birthday pancakes in the morning (daddy made them with a smiley face) and we had cupcakes and gifts later in the day. Jacob and I made her tins to hold her toys or her hair-ties, whatever she wants to put in them. We are planning to celebrate more this weekend with the family. We may also get her ears pierced tomorrow, depending on timing. That is our big gift to her, she has been asking for some bling, bling. LOL Pictures, of the altered tins, coming soon.

As promised, I have some new art work. Here is a tin I made for my friend Terre. She, along with Spellbinders, donated some awesome prizes to our National Scrapbooking Day event. So.. I have been a bit of a slacker in the crafting department, but I have a ton of stuff that needs to be done, so I will have some stuff to post very soon. But, for now, I have a picture from the D-backs game Jason and I went to the other night. We had a great time, the seats were on the 3rd base line, and the tickets were....FREE! We also went to the casino where we had lots of coupons and even had a free dinner. So, for I night out, we spent maybe five dollars.

Okay, so I was a slacker and just finished my skirt two days before Easter. But hey.. at least I finished it. Here is the only picture I got of me in it. Kinda cute. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend. We sure did. Everyone came over for dinner and yummy dessert. The kids loved hunting for eggs and all the candy they got in their Easter baskets. On kind of a sad note, we never saw the Easter bunny.. We tried to, but the line was 2 hours long. Soooo.. we went to Build-A-Bear instead, and let the kids build a bunny. It wasn't what we planned, but it was a nice change to tradition.

Well, I did it.. I made Jessica an Easter dress. Can't say it's perfect, 'cuz it definitely isn't. But, I like it, and I think I did okay for my first go 'round. I had a few issues with the sewing machine, but nothing I couldn't figure out on my own. Jessica was a very willing model, and she loves her new dress. She wasn't to happy when I got her out of bed (just as she was falling asleep) to try it on. I couldn't help it, I just had to see how it looked on her. Jacob, on the other hand, didn't mind posing for the camera.

Yup.. I'm actually going to give it a real try. I thought I would try something simple for my first project. I am going to make Jessica an Easter dress and myself a matching top. I had no intention of sewing until I saw this fabric. I thought.. you can't get much easier then this. Most of the work is already done. Plus, I don't need a pattern. I never got into sewing because I like instant gratification. I guess that's why paper crafting works for me. Anyway, I'm posting a picture of the fabric and the trim I bought. This way, you guys can hold me accountable. LOL I don't want this to be another project I wanted to make, but never got around to. Wish me luck, and I will post pictures as soon as it is finished.
